A brave Crewe woman has had a hair-raising experience – all in the name of charity.
Gill Dobson, who works as a domestic technician for local affordable housing provider Wulvern, had a close shave with the clippers in an effort to raise funds for the organisations charity of the year, The Christie hospital in Manchester.
Gill said “I was always complaining about the colour of my dyed hair so when a friend suggested shaving it off I jumped at the chance to raise money for such a worthy cause.”
With encouragement from her family and friends, Gill went ahead with the chop at Wulvern’s Extracare development, Mill House in Nantwich. Resident hairdresser, Debbie Baldwin, took on the challenge in front of over 30 spectators including tenants, friends and colleagues who all cheered Gill on.
Gill admitted that she was very scared to look in the mirror afterwards, but with everyone clapping, she braved her reflection. The event raised over £200 for The Christie, although donations are still coming in.
Gill said “The response has been wonderful and I am really pleased. I’m very proud of my new look!”
Anyone wishing to add to the total can call into any Wulvern office in Crewe or Nantwich.
