A “Step Out for Stroke” sponsored walk is being organised by local affordable housing provider, Wulvern to mark National Stroke Awareness Day.
The walkers, who are all Wulvern tenants aged over 60, will follow a mile circular route from the Woodside pub in Wistaston on Tuesday 11th May.
Over 150,000 people in the UK are living with the after effects of stroke. Wulvern have organised the walk to help raise both awareness and funds for the devastating condition.
Rachel Parker, Wulvern’s Healthy, Wealthy and Wise Co-ordinator said: "Stroke is the UK’s third biggest killer. It is also the single most common cause of severe disability. Many people will know of somebody who has had a personal experience with the condition and so the Step out for Stroke walk is a great way to raise funds for these people, whilst also improving your fitness and reducing your own risk of stroke through exercise.”
As part of the Healthy, Wealthy and Wise programme, Wulvern will be leading a series of short walks over the coming months. Anyone interested in joining should contact Rachel Parker on 01270 503564.
