Crewe based provider of affordable housing Wulvern has opened a new state of the art stores facility at Marshfield Bank Business Park in Crewe.
The three quarters of a million pound ‘Wulvern stores’ will be delivered in partnership with Travis Perkins who were appointed as the preferred supplier following an extensive procurement exercise that included Wulvern Tenants.
Rob Allen Wulvern’s Director of Partnerships said “I am delighted that our Tenants had a big say in the selection process. We will continue to invest in new and enterprising solutions to ensure that our existing and prospective customers get the best possible service. This investment is great news for our customers and the local economy during this difficult economic period and is further evidence of Wulvern’s commitment to the communities that we serve”.
“Our partnership with Travis Perkins means that we will be able to use their waste management services significantly increasing the amount of waste that Wulvern recycle, reducing our costs. So this is great news for Wulvern and our customers”.
Damion Rothner, National Sales Manager, Travis Perkins Managed Services commented: "Travis Perkins are extremely pleased to have been selected as the Preferred Partner by Wulvern. The dedicated stores solution that has been put in place represents the operational face of the partnership, but the partnership is about much more than simply the supply of building materials. We also have plans in place to deliver savings and efficiency gains that cover all aspects of the service from both sides, as well as working with Wulvern to invest in the local community as a whole."
The news of the new stores comes hot on the heels of the announcement that the Wulvern Board will meet in March to consider plans to invest millions of pounds in the area in the next financial year. Wulvern has earmarked £ 5.5 million pounds for improvements to its housing stock in 2010/11, including new kitchens, bathrooms and heating systems as well as environmental improvements. A further £ 11 million pounds has been identified to build new homes and replace out of date bed-sit accommodation.
The 16.5 million pounds brings the companies total investment in Crewe and Nantwich to £ 93.5 million since it was formed in 2003.
